Michele Washington pioneers improvements at Queen Mary, University of London

Michele Washington, Head of Catering and Hospitality Services at Queen Mary, University of London has won the 2010 Cost Sector Catering Award in the University / College category.
The recognition of Michele by Cost Sector, is made all the more sweet, as it is the recognised industry champion for the catering industry professionals in the health, public and education sectors. The awards celebrate outstanding achievement in the catering industry and are considered to be the highest acknowledgement of merit that can be bestowed from the industry.
Michele was nominated for introducing sustainability to College catering operations, improving the quality and choice of the offering, and building positive relationships with the local communities. She beat off fierce competition from shortlisted colleagues at other universities to walk away with the award. Michele was also elected a fellow of the Institute of Hospitality last year.
Michele says ‘the award is recognition not only of my own efforts in striving for the best possible service and environment for our customers and business, but also of the daily efforts of my entire team, from porter to manager'.
