Centrally located and offering breathtaking views of Arthur’s Seat, the University’s venues are all just over one mile from the main railway and bus station, and seven miles from Edinburgh International Airport. Our main facilities include Pollock Halls, George Square, Old College and the Assembly Hall.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE DURING VACATION PERIODS: The University of Edinburgh’s main teaching hub provides numerous classrooms and 10 lecture theatres, including our newly refurbished George Square Lecture Theatre with a capacity of 480 people, and the impressive Appleton Tower offering five state-of-the-art lecture theatres together with a 560 sqm concourse, ideal for exhibitions.
FACILITIES AVAILABLE EVENINGS & WEEKENDS & YEAR ROUND: Pollock Halls is conveniently located ensuring easy access for delegates travelling into Edinburgh and offers free on-site car parking. With the choice of historic mansion houses or modern conference facilities, we can accommodate a wide range of events for 10 to 350 delegates. Our John McIntyre Centre is expanding, watch out for exciting updates!
DEDICATED YEAR ROUND VENUE: Edinburgh First - Old College & Assembly Hall: Edinburgh First has a portfolio of impressive venues throughout the city. The prestigious Assembly Hall, formerly used by the Scottish Parliament, can now be hired to host events such as seminars and AGMs. The spectacular Playfair Library is a unique venue within Old College; this grand hall is ideal for conferences, receptions and banqueting events.
